Castle Waldenburg – the former princely residence is a cultural treasure at the Zwickauer Mulde in the district of Zwickau

The changeful history of the castle – once a princely site and later a hospital – is now owned by the district of Zwickau. After several years of restauration, the castle blazes in their former shine. Only a few rooms, outside the visitor area, still eradiate the charm of the hospital.

During a guided tour through the castle, visitors learn a brief outline of the history of the castle and its construction and experience pompous designed representative rooms such as the ball rooms, the library,the mirror hall, the Gobelin and the Chinese room.

The city of Waldenburg offers even more cultural features. You can find the museum Naturalienkabinett directly opposite to the castle. The ceramic art has a centuries-old tradition in Waldenburg, which can be admired in several pottery workshops. The spacious parklands invite you for a walk, especially the Grünfelder park, which is based on the english model.

Waldenburg is very suitable as a day trip or even as a short side trip on the way to the destination

The castle and the town of Waldenburg can be reached quickly due to the closeness to the A4 and A72 freeways.
